Cash forecasting when Dynamics 365 is your system of record

Finance teams on Dynamics 365 Finance or Business Central already hold the ledger, the open items and the payment terms. The forecasting question is which additional signals you bring in, and how quickly the team can trust the resulting number.

Regulation will add to those signals. The European Commission's ViDA package makes e-invoicing and near real-time reporting mandatory for intra-EU transactions from 1 July 2030, so structured invoice data will increasingly be available to feed cash forecasts (European Commission, 2025).

The four tools below serve different teams. Transformance builds the forecast bottom-up from live accounts receivable activity: which invoices are matched, which are in active collections, which carry promise-to-pay dates and which are disputed. Agicap is a cash management platform for SMB and mid-market teams, Kyriba is a full treasury platform, and Solver is a planning and reporting suite for Business Central.

Each entry follows the same template: what the product is, who it serves and who it suits best. For the method behind AR-driven forecasting, see our guide to predicting cash inflows from AR data, or explore the Transformance cash flow forecasting solution.

Transformance is ranked first. CashPulse reaches 90-95% forecast accuracy out to 90 days, with 30-, 90- and 365-day horizons on one model covering 20+ countries (Transformance platform data, 2026). ClearMatch auto-matches 95% of incoming payments and runs end to end in under 8 minutes, which gives the forecast current cash-in data. A first 13-week forecast is ready in 2-4 weeks, with full rollout in up to 4-8 weeks (Transformance customer data, 2026).

How to choose

What to look for when Dynamics 365 is your system of record

When Dynamics 365 Finance or Business Central is the ERP of record, the forecasting question is where the forecast signal comes from. Inputs usually fall into three groups: ledger and open-item data from the ERP, bank feeds, and activity data from accounts receivable execution such as matched payments, collections commitments and open disputes.

Check for a native connector, entity and currency-level breakdowns, and scenario modelling that ties to specific actions. For multi-entity groups, a single global average can hide that one entity's customers pay on time while another's run weeks late. Our guide to multi-entity cash flow forecasting covers this in more depth.

Dynamics 365 Finance or Business Central: check which one is supported

Dynamics 365 Finance and Business Central are different products with different data models and integration routes. Ask each vendor which one its connector supports, whether the integration is packaged or configured per project, and which fields it reads, such as open invoices, payment terms and general ledger entries.

  • Which Dynamics product is supported, and how is data refreshed?
  • Does the connector cover all entities and currencies you run?
  • Who maintains the connector after go-live?

Where the forecast signal comes from

A forecast can be built top-down from historical totals or bottom-up from individual receivables. The bottom-up route uses the status of each open invoice: matched, in collections, promised for a date, or disputed. Read more in AR cash forecasting methods and the glossary entry on cash flow forecasting.

Whichever route a vendor takes, ask which data it reads and how often it refreshes.

Time to first forecast and total cost

Ask each vendor for a time to first forecast, not a time to demo, and ask what the total cost covers once entities, users and modules are counted. Transformance delivers a first 13-week forecast in 2-4 weeks and a full rollout in up to 4-8 weeks. For the planning basics, see our 13-week cash flow forecast template and the 13-week forecast glossary entry.

How to test accuracy before you commit

Ask each vendor to run a forecast against your last two quarters of actual cash-in data and show the variance by horizon and entity. Use your own data, not a curated demo set. You can also try the free cash flow forecasting tool to see how your own numbers behave. For common causes of forecast error, read why cash flow forecasts miss.

Frequently asked

Questions buyers ask before they choose

How long does it take to get a trustworthy forecast live if we're already on Dynamics 365?

With Transformance, a first 13-week forecast is ready in 2-4 weeks and full rollout takes up to 4-8 weeks. CashPulse layers on top of Dynamics 365 without replacing the ERP. For any vendor, ask for time to first forecast rather than time to demo.

How accurate should a cash forecast be at 30, 60 and 90 days?

CashPulse reaches 90-95% forecast accuracy out to 90 days, across 30-, 90- and 365-day horizons, because it forecasts from live matching, collections and dispute data. Ask any vendor for accuracy by time horizon rather than a single blended number, and test it on your own history.

Do we need to replace our Dynamics 365 reporting or FP&A tool to add AR-driven forecasting?

No. Transformance connects to Dynamics 365 and works alongside your existing reporting and budgeting tools, adding live AR signal to the planning stack you already use. Postings back to the ERP keep a human in the loop.

Which data does an AR-driven forecast use?

It uses the status of each open invoice: matched payments from ClearMatch, collections activity and promise-to-pay dates from CollectPulse, and open disputes. Vero works on Customer 360, one graph per customer, so each customer's payment behaviour informs the forecast. See cash application and collections for the inputs.

How is cash forecasting software priced?

Pricing usually depends on entities, modules and volume, so check each vendor's website for current details. Transformance scopes pricing to volume and modules. Ask each vendor what is included per entity and per module.

How do we evaluate accuracy claims without a long pilot?

Ask each vendor to run a forecast against your last two quarters of actual cash-in data and show variance by horizon and entity. Transformance offers proof of value in 4-5 weeks on one entity. Use your own data, not a demo dataset, and compare results across vendors.
